Britannia, located close to downtown Calgary, is a neighborhood where wealthy Canadians live. I happened to pass by this place without any information. It was an area where you could tell at a glance that it was a rich neighborhood, even if you didn’t tell anyone or even if you passed by without knowing anything.
The shapes of the houses, each showing off their splendor, were like that.
Such was the uniqueness of not a single building being built in the same shape. I think the majesty of the incredibly large single house also played a role.
This is exactly how I felt when I first entered Britannia.

How did the name Britannia come about?
It is said that long ago, a man named John Maclean, who was the first settler in the Calgary area, named it after his hometown village. It was originally named Braeheads, but was changed to Britannia in the late 19th century.

If you look at the location, you will see that it is located south of downtown.
It is bordered by Elbow Drive to the east, 50 Avenue S to the south, Elbow River and Riverdale Park to the west, and Britannia Drive to the north.

It is only 5 kilometers from Britannia to the core shopping mall, the center of downtown, so it can truly be said to be the best location in terms of location. It’s about 13 minutes by car or an hour by foot, so a neighborhood of this size in this location would be the best, right?

I heard there was a good, very popular school near Britannia. I guess that’s Western Canada High School . Just looking at the school’s GPA, 9.7 is very high, right?
If you search for Western Canada High School, it is indeed a good school.
Western Canada is one of Calgary’s oldest and most prestigious educational institutions. Given its proximity to the historic upper-class neighborhoods of Mount Royal, Elbow Park, Roxboro, and Rideau Park, it has long been associated with the city’s elite and establishment. Western Canada graduates have gone on to prolific careers in politics, law, sport, and the arts.
Britannia is one of the top schools in all of Canada and has a really good school system as it is also sent to many Ivy League schools.

As expected, you can see with your own eyes that houses that were sold for around $1.5 million in 2021 have increased significantly in 2023. Of course, there will be a slight difference in the size of the houses. It looks like it has risen at least twice.
If you look at the properties currently listed for sale, they are of this size and price.
