Canada Rocky Mountains Ski Resort – Lake Louise Ski & Resort

This time, I went to Lake Louise Ski Resort for the first riding season of 2023/2024.

Before the season riding review, let me tell you a little personal snowboarding story:

I fell in love with snowboarding after seeing it at the 1997 Winter Universiade and started riding a snowboard since then, so it’s been almost 25 years. I still vividly remember the excitement I felt when I started snowboarding. There was no one at Seongwoo Resort to teach me, so I just rented a board and rode it while falling, and I vividly remember the time when I came down without falling in the evening.

Then, while meeting people at the Unitel ski club, I systematically practiced, learned, and improved on snowboarding. At that time, the Unitel ski club was truly legendary. I have memories of having fun skiing in the winter and in-line in the summer, but now that we’re all older, we’re all wondering where we are and what we’re doing… lol

Since then, I have been to countless ski resorts in Korea, Switzerland in Europe once, and about 10 ski resorts in Whistler and Rocky Mountain in Vancouver, but the conclusion is that Lake Louise Ski Resort is top of the top for snowboarders . Whistler in Vancouver and Interlaken in Switzerland are both really fun and enjoyable, and the scale is more overwhelming, but if you compare only the quality of the slopes and the fun, I think snowboarding at Lake Louise is much more fun.

From a skier’s perspective, I think Whistler or Switzerland are better, but for snowboarders, there’s no place like Lake Louise. What I hate the most is the flat area in the middle of the slope, but there are very few places like this in Lake Louise, so I like it. And hard snow quality is also important. Well, there are people who like powder skiing and powder boarding in powder snow, but it is like eating out occasionally, and for snowboarders, the taste of running on hard snow, not ice, with a moderate slope and carving at the edge is the staple. lol

Enough bragging about Lake Louise, let’s start reviewing the 2023/2024 season.

It was December 16, 2023, and the weather was a bit cloudy. It was mostly cloudy with occasional sunshine, but the view from Lake Louise on a clear day was amazing, but I’ve already seen it a lot haha. If you have to take a day to go, pray for clear weather!

First, go up the gondola and take a light ride.

It’s been a while since I climbed Lake Louise Peak.

Lake Louise Peak used to be climbed by T-bar, but I had bad memories of T-bar, so I didn’t go up it, but when it was changed to a lift, I started going up the peak.

The majesty of Lake Louise Peak! Voila! The day after it snows, you can easily see powder skiers and snowboarders coming down in all directions. I was guided to the back bowl, and it was a bit scary. lol

The road coming down from the summit was a bit steep and rough, so the two #CanadaSisters had some trouble coming down, but they came down safely.

The way down was to my favorite course, Course 9, Learning Area.

This course is perfect for teaching beginners or practicing something new yourself. Beginner classes are always here. It’s wide, has a moderate slope, and the snow is always groomed to its best. Just remember that lessons are held at Lake Louise Course 9 .

So we ride down and have an early lunch. Eat early to avoid competition for seats at lunch.

Today’s lunch is cup ramen! You don’t have to bring hot water in a thermal container to get water or stand in line in front of the microwave.

Afternoon riding is backcountry! You can take a gondola and go over the mountain, and then you can enjoy some hard riding on a small mountain. This is also one of my favorite courses. It’s not very long, but it’s a course that stays somewhere between intermediate and advanced, and the snow quality is very good, so it’s great for riding at speed with a board. The quality of the slope is good enough to control the speed even at high speeds on deep slopes.

As you take the lift, you will see skiers and boarders attempting the path between the lifts, but today there is some rain coming down. There are many people who suffer from stuck eyes.

After enjoying the backcountry for a while, I came down a little early, and the #CanadaSisters, Santo and Ire, were in good physical condition, so we enjoyed it until the end and wrapped up around 3 o’clock.

If we leave by 4 o’clock, the parking lot will be clogged with cars, so we start early and pack up and leave around 3 o’clock.

Next, I will review Sunshine Ski Resort. I like Lake Louise more, but Sunshine is also a ski resort with its own fun aspects, so even though it has its drawbacks, it is one of the ski resorts that many people visit.
