hello. This is Miki’s Honey, MikiHani. I provide information about rafting and kayaking to the Rocky Mountains in Canada.
There are several places where you can go rafting in the Rockies. You can choose according to difficulty level. The places with high difficulty (Golden, Jasper) are a bit far away, so I recommend going there when you go camping. It takes about 3 hours to get to Golden, so if you leave early in the morning, it is possible to do it as a day course.
Calgary Lazy River Floating
First, you can enjoy your summer by floating the Bow River, which runs through Calgary, using non-engined equipment such as canoes, kayaks, and rafts. Since the water in the Bow River is not fast, you can just grab a tube and float slowly down the river and enjoy your leisure. Equipment rental is not expensive and the rental shop also provides a shuttle.

It’s not the rafting we think of, it’s more like lazy floating, floating on the river?
Jasper rafting
Jesper Rafting offers beginner and intermediate rafting levels, and the advantage is that the scenery along the river is very beautiful. The intermediate level has some rapids, but it is not very severe, so you can ride it with your family.

Golden rafting
Golden Rafting has severe rapids of high difficulty level, so if you want to enjoy extreme white water rafting, you can go rafting in Golden.
When rafting in Golden, the boat often bounces up to 45 degrees in the rapids, so it is difficult to do it with children or the elderly, and it is recommended only for those who want to feel the thrill.

Invermere Kayaking
It’s a bit far here, but if you’re camping near Radium Hot Springs, I definitely recommend trying kayaking.
It was a great feeling paddling a kayak along the river while looking at the beautiful scenery. As I tried it, I thought I should definitely recommend it to others. This course involves taking a boat down the river for about 3 hours. There are kayaks for one person and kayaks for two people, but I prefer two people. It was nice because we could talk together and when one person rowed the boat, the other person could take pictures.
Even though it was my first time using a kayak, it wasn’t difficult to paddle, and I was worried because I saw it shaking and flipping in some videos, but it didn’t shake much, so I don’t think I need to worry about it flipping over. Be sure to prepare a cool drink and apply sunscreen to all exposed skin. If you don’t apply it, you will get burned.
These days, cell phones are basically waterproof, so I can take pictures with the cell phone camera, but since I don’t want to drop it, it would be nice to have something like a cell phone necklace.
