Rocky Mountain Hiking Course Review – Cirque Peak

This entry is part 4 of 6 in the series Rocky Mountain Trekking

hello. This is Miki’s Honey, MikiHani. We provide information about traveling to the Rocky Mountains in Canada.

This is the Cirque Peak hiking course I visited in 2021. It is located near Lake Louise and the difficulty level is Hard according to AllTrails.

The round trip to the summit is 16.1 km and the height to the summit is 1,131 meters. I think it took more than 6 hours for the round trip.

If you go to the All Trail site, you can see a variety of photos taken by people.

Helen Lake. The peak you see in front is Cirque Peak.

There is Helen Lake at the two-thirds point. Up to this point, you can walk on a gentle slope, but after passing the lake, the crazy slope continues all the way to the top. Sometimes there are places where the slope is really 45 degrees and I had to crawl. But I think this is a characteristic of the Rocky Mountains. At the end, there is a rocky mountain and a steep slope. Of course, this place was particularly steep.

Look at this crazy slope. The photo was not taken at an angle. lol

Usually, hard courses at this height are difficult, so I don’t go all the way to the top, but this time, it was so hard in the middle of the peak that I rested for about 30 minutes. After my sweat cooled, I was cold and bored, so I climbed to the top.

As always, the views from the top of the Rockies never disappoint.

The altitude is high and the road to the final summit is steep, so hiking shoes and poles are a must. In fact, hiking boots and poles are always essential when hiking in the Rocky Mountains.

It takes about 2 and a half hours by car from Calgary and the hiking time takes at least 6 hours or more, so you need to leave early in the morning to return to Calgary in the evening.

There are many easy courses in the Rocky Mountains rather than hard courses like Cirque Peak. This is also an easy course with an elevation of 500 meters if you go all the way to Helen Lake. Also, although it is high, the paths are well-organized, so there are many courses that allow you to reach the top without difficulty if you have enough time. On the other hand, the road to the top of Cirque Peak was a bit difficult.
